In general all my work is unique one of a kind. The new casting I am doing is as close to 'production' as I get. I do all my own work. I carve the original in wax or make a mould from one of my ivory carvings. For more information on the process click here .
I can offer most of these designs in any metal. I specialize in copper casting because not many outfits will do copper (time consuming and messy and does not lend well to mass production). I can also offer these items in quality. Each item is hand cast and to some extend each wax is cleaned up and altered so the pattern will be 'somewhat' like what is shown but will have individual character. Shops however can put an order in for volume and pretty much know what they are getting. Another reason casting is useful is that many real claws have legal restrictions and a cast claw offers a duplicate copy of the real item with no legal or moral hassle, and for less money then the real thing. My castings can have many uses. I make custom knife guard to knife makers, pendants to people who do their own chains and beading. I make a series of custom necklace clasps. Castings can be inlaid or put to many toher uses. My main use ot creating necklaces. I have several hundred patterns so I can use these in special orders and combine birds flowers and animals in any combination required in a special order. These are just a few designs I cast. In general the 'key' is the toggle that first crossways in the 'lock' to form a secure closure. This custom idea adds personality to your special necklace.These can be copper brass or sterling. Gold is possible but not my usual line of work. I sell these for about $7 a set - about the same price or less then mass produced generic styles.
Showing how it is done
Larger lion claws half an ounce and 2 inches in one metal are about $35. If I use more then one metal or add a design the price goes up according to time work and my costs but from $34 to $75
Smaller claws will take as long and have as much work involved but less metal and more can be fit in a kiln so a little less $ and these when plain are $15

The mixed metal casting shows well here. I spin 2 metals at the same time and keep them seperated so they bond but do not mix . Here I used brass and copper.
