Left- moose leg bones. This is a sort of new item as the knife makers have expressed interest. At about $10 a bone it is a good price to replace the more spendy popular giraffe bone. Has other art uses
Right- wolf leg bones. Similar interest as moose above but smaller -thinner but ok knife handle material. Also good for traditional native tool handles also have smaller bones ofr making beads. Some fo my customers make museum replica native American artifacts
Right. I have a lot of  'bones' of all kinds used for making beads or in medicine bags etc. Right is lynx foot bones but have a lot of wolf on on hand --mostly those two but inquire. It's a by[product of the trapping industry usually thrown away . I buy carcasses from local trappers and try to get  an interest in skulls and bones so as not to see these items wasted.
right   lynx claws. I have quite a few on hand well cleaned and good prices. The local fur dealers cut the claws off before tanning the hides as the claws cut the fur in the tanning machine. The market for claws is less then the supply so I have been trying to get more interest in this material --again- so it is not wasted. Makes nice necklace earrings etc

FEb 09. Russians  just doubled the price of mammoth ivory at the biggest fossil show in the world this past month. Above quality is now $60 a pound. I saw the  best as high as $200 a pound in Tucson show.

My 'newest' page has changed. I am trying harder to just list materials on the page they belong so they can be sold. This page can direct you to the part of my web site with the latest activity. I have times of the year, seasons, when various items are most likely to come in. There can be a good winter weather- wise for trapping and locals do well - bringing me skulls. Or I meet with a Eskimo friend and suddenly have 100 pounds of ivory. Or decide to cut up a 50 block of jade and get into rocks to offer. Other parts of the raw for sale can have no activity for as long as 2 years. This page can keep you updated if you check in, as to what came in where the new activity is and help you decide to go look, or know nothing new of interest to you has come in.

Some basic 'seasons to remember'.
The best way to become a valued customer (which has it's privileges) - or get the best deal, and get the best service, is to read and pay attention to the seasons. When you go to the store you do not get the best fresh strawberries in the middle of winter. Shop smart! Pay attention to the seasons!

In general to know
. I am a one man show. I wear all the hats. I am the web designer, the marketer, the packer the one who makes 99% of all the art you see, finds 50% of all the raw materials you see. I am the clerk the waiter, the one who does the taxes and bookwork. It's a lot to manage, and I am now a senior, with senior moments. Health issues even. High blood pressure diabetic. Now and then I 'must' pretty much walk away and take a break, get some exercise, unwind. Not stress out over the needs of my customers. After 30 years in business there is a pattern to discern, that might help you get what you want. Money is not my God, 'but' one of the 3 great motivators. If I'm not making money it has to be 'fun.' If I am not making lots of money or having fun, I'm donating my time to a worthy cause. Gaining respect, being appreciated helping out the young- the old - the handicapped etc. I decide who to donate to.

Some items are 'all the time' my book and tape for example, or local items I can get a lot of like about 12,000 lynx claws in stock. Certain rocks I have a zillion of. Some more rare or limited items are hard to keep in stock like #1 grade blue mammoth ivory knife scales. Or fossil leopard fangs. If an item is in the shop cart there is a 99% chance I have it. If you are contacting me to ask about something keep my seasons in mind
My year begins end of Jan …
Tucson show end Jan mid Feb

Much revolves around the biggest show in the world in Tucson, the fossil mineral gem show with 70,000 vendors from all over the world. See me there each year between Jan 29th and Feb 13th at the Ramada Inn on I-10. If you want me to look for something for you, contact me just before I go. If you buy lots of mammoth ivory the best deal is at the show-- if you can pay me while I am there and I can ship it direct to you. It can cost a 3rd less. Minimum order 5 pounds. I'm making about $100 an hour at the show. To get my attention you need to either keep it short and easy, be a valued regular customer (I've known you 5 years or more, and or done $1,000 a year or more business for 5 years or more), or impress me with the size of your order. It is not a good time to order anything off my web site. I may even shut the site down during the show.
While I am at the show life is hectic and small order pay pal orders get neglected. I'm working 15 hour days and making half a years wages in 2 weeks. Many deals are $1,000 to $10,000 so I may not have time for $10 orders till things slow down.

End of Feb to end of March
Is a
especially if you are a regular customer, and or have a big order worth personal service. Personal service means emailing pictures of stuff not put out for sale yet. I usually don't fool with that for less then $100 order, and I need assurance you are serious and not wasting my time. Discussed on an individual basis. I have no set policy. I can be pretty busy selling during this time tired and spacy - you may ne dot remind me what is going on who you are what the deal is etc. I'm a senior now I need my nap I get forgetful when stressed out. I'm most forgetful this time of year.

April to June.
Is a good time for personal service on smaller orders. I am more likely to remember who you are have time to answer questions be in a better mood and not space out your order. However… much of the top 10% the world dies for has been high graded already. It's a good time to look for seconds. Deals, odd items not part of the shark frenzy. Winter is ending thinking of spring, getting ready to cook carcasses so a good time to ask if I have skulls new fangs bones- fresh animal products of any kind. I'm sorting out my antler pile I the wet s now, it is warm enough to get to the remote rooms of the storage buildings to find stuff I forgot I had.

June July
I can get out on the river. I may have new mammoth ivory I found complete tusks new fossils - a good time to get the best Alaska fossils. I may be suddenly gone - leave a message. I'm hunting fishing etc. My vacation time when I can get away. Bone skulls cleaned orders can go out sorting claws teeth. Miners may come to me now with gold or ivory.
August
Tanana fair time
- the big state fair again. Hectic like Tucson for 2 weeks. About the 5th to the 13th. Not a good time to contact me. But right after can be- I acquire many Alaska items at the fair in trade- fossils- gold- ivory- who knows. Once a wild bison head, a musk ox hide. I have money-so - a good time to sell me stuff.
Sept - Oct
Not a good time to ask me about out of state stuff
as most of my Tucson stuff that is any good has sold by now. I still have on hand at any given time several tons of raw materials. Just low on the top 1% that 99.9% of my customers want. Record this, record that, perfect this, perfect that with a shark frenzy mentality. A good time for laid back-- take our time and get it right business. In Sept Oct I may make a late trip looking for ivory so there is the possibility of fossils and ivory- maybe a full tusk for sale, . In early Oct.
November to Jan
I get the most art work done
. Winter is here - dark cold. I am not going out to look for moose racks buried in the snow. The back rooms of the warehouses are cold and dark so it is hard to get me motivated to go look for something. It's slow down time, rest up for the big show in Tucson time. Jan I am packing sorting shipping, much of my inventory is gone waiting for me in Tucson to be sold. Remember I make half a years wages there in 2 weeks. The web site is not the priority when it is show time. I earn per day at the show what I earn per month on the web site. The best way to become a valued customer (which has it's privileges) - or get the best deal, and get the best service, is to read and pay attention to the seasons. When you go to the store you do not get the best fresh strawberries in the middle of winter. Shop smart! Pay attention to the seasons!

I will try to stop in where regularly and give an update on what is going on with raw materials. This can save time looking over all the pages for news stuff that maybe has not arrived yet. I sometimes get deals or lots of activity followed by a lull. Or pages I have not changed in a year or two because I have not focused on opals, or any rocks in a while. I this way you can learn where the new stuff and new listings are coming from. Some hot items many wait for can be mentioned here like #1 ivory .
Fossil walrus ivory
My 3rd book is out now! 'Still Wild' covers about 1990 to 2000. Running a 200 mile trapline, acquiring more homesteads, being a murder suspect after someone burns my home down and just- a lot of wilderness lore adventures and insights. It's best of you read book 1-2 first.
Book 3 'Still Wild' is $25
My knife materials pager is one of my most active and up to date pages as the knife makers seem to be among my biggest customers. But much of the material knife makers use might be if interest to others left are mammoth ivory knife scales for handles
