Problems!
Navigating  my web site/ Cant find where  to go/ confusing

Your web site is complicated Why?
Lots of reasons. Let me ramble. It's not as complicated and confusing for me as for you. Like- I have an artistic mind. I dont do straigh lines, do not like order, but prefer curves and randomness. My mind pictures that whick I wish to aquire and searches over a world of chaos to idenfy it. For example I see the word 'shipping' in my head and scan all the text to locate that image. I do not look under "S"   My site has a purpose that suite my needs, maybe not your needs . But it's my store and my business, not yours. I have to survive. In order to survive I have to figure it out, to figure it out I have to make choices. To make a profit I have to pick and choose who to sell to. 'Because' I keep repeating throughout my site, 95% of my business comes from 5% of my customers. Therefore I need to as fast as possible sort out my customers and locate that 5% so I can give them the most time, and send 95% down the road to shop someplace else, or wait in line if they choose till I have time for them. It could be today but it could be never. (to reduce it to the simplest terms.) Not exactly, because I give stuff away, donate my time to the needy, offer free advice bla bla, but it's my game, my call, my dime, and I do not respond to people with needs not offering me a return. It might be a scam and I don't have time to sort it out. I could just restrict my web site with a password the customer needs to qualify for, or have a minimum order. Instead I give everyone a chance. Those who do not have the time, or cant figure it out, or do not like how I do business can leave. The customer needs me more then I need the customer. I set my life and business up that way. The line forms behind me. I get an average of 30 customers a day, and used to give them all my full attention and it occupied 10 hours a day just doing emails. Not going to work. So it's complicated on purpose . That weeds out the not so serious. Let them go to Ebay. I'm not in completion with Ebay. The email address you see is my one and only and personal email. That phone number is my one and only business and home number available 24 hours a day. I call that personal service. Those who abuse it go to the back of the line. If you have a need, explain to me why I should care. You can pick 2 out of 3. Fast, cheap, quality. You cant have all 3. In other words you can have it fast and cheap with low quality. You can have it fast and good quality for a higher price. You can have Cheap and good quality but you will have to wait. I call that the facts of life we all live by.

Answer # 2. I'm a one person business on a low budget who lives a basic simple lifestyle . I do not hire anyone to do any aspect of my business. In that way I don't have to follow any rules or listen to anyone or be beholden or owe anyone. My entire web site cost about $100. TRhe entire web sitre was built on slow spped dial up inte3rnet connection. I takes 24 hours to upload it. The bad news is it is a weak program I use that does not support a shopping cart or other various features that other more expensive sites use. I learned to make it work by innovation.  To fix it I'd have to start over from scratch. 46 pages and 1,000 pictures No time, no real need. Most of my income is from those who understand my pictures and site is only my portfolio, my resume, it's not things for sale. My serious internet customers fly to Alaska to see it in person and buy it by the truckload. Sales under $300 often loose me money and might be  subsidized by the big buyers. Thus I do not depend on  sales under $300. It's more to help the customer out, not me. I'm not willing to invest tons of time and money into volunteer work. Read elsewhere to understand more how it works if interested. There will be a category of people who see and understand, who sing off the same sheet of music- likeminded - who will more likely have a good experience on my web site. They grasp what it is I offer and what it is I do not offer. Thus we do not waste each others time and there is less disappointment, returns , or unhappy customers. If you 'don't get it',  is a bad sign, not good. More likely to be a problem. The most common problem is they think this is Ebay and want it super sized with fries, served with a smile for $4. I'm a master chef. I don't follow directions, I write them. It's not going to look like the one on the menu. Its one of a kind just for you and you'll pay a fair gallery price. Not always, but fast food customers are a dime a dozen, and get the lowest priority. Customers who do not have time to read and find out what I offer and do not  offer, might well not be suitable customers for personal service may  need to go elsewhere to shop because they do not have time but exepect me to.  The good news is, because I have no empoyees and I am the source, and have no high overhead expenses, I can usually offer the best prices. It's my time that may add to your cost. Those who do not require my time get the best price and those who need my help pay for it, that seems fair to me

Pricing how to buy questions

I don't do small retail well because I cant find stuff. I'm not organized enough. I'm best at 'lots' I create over 500 art pieces a year and deal in raw material by the 'large amounts'. I don't have time or ability or interest in keeping track of it. Probably I have what you want, but so what. I might not be able to find it in a reasonable amount of time, and do not even know if I can till I try. Especially when I get the impression someone wants to pay less not more then usual. It's not a problem I feel I need to solve as a big priority. Sooner or later it all sells, if not, it's better then money in the bank gathering like 30% interest a year. Or I will use the raw material myself in my own art. If art I have little money invested and can afford to sit on it. Also on small retail often people are looking for something 'special' and have something very specific in mind for a specific project, thus are not open minded about size color. It is common for me to get talked out of my best stuff at the lowest price! Ideally I want to high grade it, keep the best for my own person use and sell off what I don't want. But who wants someone else's rejects? So it is me stuck with the rejects. Using that in my own art. I'm not especially happy with that. Larger volume buyers want it by the pound to resell usually and are happy with what I send and takes me the least amount of time and the least fuss and the most profit. I do small retail, it's just not the high priority and if I'm busy is the first sales to go on hold.

I want  to buy a couple of things, how do I do that? I see lots of pictures  and no prices! Are you in business? Are you nuts?

You are not at an ordinary store. You are at the source , where 'raw' is defined as bloody and still twitching . Or still wet covered in mud. You have met the guy who might have drug it in screaming by the hind leg and ate it. You have arrived at some place related to Star trek. You have met Indiana Jones. The man who can make it happen. For a price, I can find even the holy grail. You just have to make it worth my while. Does this sound  like somone happy to be your butler? One thing  I am is in charge of my life (no I dont want to be in charge of yours)

It's complicated, and I try to explain in various locations on my web site. I have raw material by the ton, by the truckload. I have finished art usually 500 items at any given time. I am one person. I can not possibly list everything one at a time. But I can toss out a pile of random pictures to show the sorts of things I carry. That item may or may not be for sale right now. It's like my resume. It's like to give ideas to people who need a special order. Or to attract large sales or large shops. It does not work for me to go look for one item or to explain about one item or to take a picture to show one customer one item. That takes half an hour on the average and on the average one in 4 inquires results in a sale thus this means I'd spend an average of 2 hours selling each item. Not going to work. Sadly I may well have exactly what you want. But it is not worth spending half an hour to find out. So the customer who wants one item or a few or orders under $100 are stuck with choices in the shop cart, the tip of the iceberg one millionth of what I have in stock. But in this way can show the world instead of one person. I spend that half hour to show it and eventually it gets results. Ideally I'd like to run a web site like a flea market garage sale antique store or junk yard. You go look under the tarps, poke through the boxes and find something and bring it to me and ask me what I want for it. Problem: On the web site there are pictures not actual objects. I need to relate the picture the object and I may not know where the object in the picture is, not when it's by the ton. I try hard to make my business as one on one as possible. Many web sites do not encourage contact, you buy it or not.  You do not talk and ask questions and discuss things, Many will not offer a phone number, a personal email address. Maybe I'm fishing, trolling. Do I need to reel in every nibble I get? Maybe i just like fishing even if I don't catch much. Fishing does not mean looking for suckers or just the big one. What I'm trolling for is my business. How can one be a trapper and explain  how the bait works? For example if one is trolling for chicks does the guy tell the babe his next move? It is enough she knows he has a good heart and is honest. If she's smart  she'll just smile and let him make his moves. Or maybe it is she who is the hunter- depending on if you ask him or her. Like that. What fun is shopping or even life if you always know what's happening geez!

Another answer if you do not relate to the above. A quesion to you. To be or not to be? Is it better to make 3 times as much money and be miserable  doing what I hate, and am not good at, like paperwork  and records, being organized and keeping track of stuff, or to make enough money to get by and be happy, with minimal organization, being happy with my life  as a pack rat.
Another answer : Personal service to some customers is understood to be service with a smile. The customer is always right. The seller is here to serve you. He stands at attention waiting for you to step forward with a command. The sellers greatest joy is to give you a deal,  do it fast and give you quality and have the customer leave satisfied with a mere  wave of the hand and the seller is dismissed, happy,  like the butler he is. That's the perfect personal service. The customer learns  this at McDonalds.
Let us now examine exhibit B: The definition of personal service as defined  by some sellers. It means the right to make it personal  as in saying  no thank you. Personal  as in a person. As in needing to get along. Sometimes the customer wrongly assumes he will get along because that's the sellers  job. Personal service  means to be honest. That  can be great, or not. Sometimes the truth sets us free and sometimes it gets us- well you get the picture?
Solution to all of the above!
I make more profit off my art business then the raw materials end of the business. . Those looking at my art get more of my free time.  If you are looking at a raw wolf fang and then ask me how to turn it inot a necklace, or ask me to drill a hole in if for you for free, you should maybe be looking at the finished wolf fangs for sale. If you are looking at raw material and the sale is expected to be under $300 this is not a priority. This does not get a lot of my time with descriptions, pictures,   just  for you unless I'm not busy. Cut and paste me a picture  from my  web site so I know what you are looking at. Do not asume I  know what you refer to.  I'm involved in a lot of things  with a one track mind. I make things buy things and wipe my mind- skandisk and defrag so I  wake up tomorrow with more ram. Yesterday is no longer important. I'm a comet across a dark sky. I don't  look backwards. Asking me to focus on yesterday annoys me. Put something in front of me. I'm visual. Do not assume I know who you are if you are a return or even a  regular customer. I get 30 emails a day and half of them think we are friends. I have maybe 2 good friends  in this world. You arent one of them.  I can recall deals and situations once i see a file as a reference point, a key in. I file by first name by the month. Tell  me who you are and what month we last did business .  If I am suposed to send something, do not asume I can easily find your address give me your address again so I can quicky make out a shipping label.
I'm not trying to sound rude
I'm trying to survive  as a business in a cold cruel world (smile) Keeping in mind my strengths and weakness. Keep some facts in mind. I spent 25 years of my life alone in the wilderness as a mountain man hermit recluse. I may be lacking in people  skills. I probably know more about wolves them people and for 25 years saw more bears in a year them people. I did d not live by the rules you live by. Some of those rules I lived by in the wilds I bring forth and put to use in my new civilized life. One issue I have is that I was raised as a child to never say no. Not ever not to anyhow  not for any reason. Thus I learned to be nice  nice nice  right up until I blow up and scream  or kill someone. It doesn't work. So I lack the ability to politely say  no. It does not mean I do ot understand I am being used and scamed and taken advantage of. It only means I have problems  doing something about it that's acceptable and polite. In general I treat people as they treat me, what goes around comes around. What  you give you shall receive 10 fold. Those who treat me well I give that back 10 times. Those who run a line on me get that back 10 times. We are part of each others karma.
Situations to be aware of

I get a high % of customers who seem to think Alaska is a 3rd world country. Where they can get slave labor done. As a matter of fact Alaska  has one of he highest economies in the world. The highest  per capita income community  in the entire  US is 30 miles from me. Minimum wage is like $10 an hour. Reliable skilled help is more like $20 an hour. Hint-- It's not a good place to be asking for labor work to be done.

I get a high % of customers  who see I am from a remote small place and I appear  like a country bumpkin. Ripe for the plucking by a fast talking city slicker . Quaint, amusing but pathetic. Offering  my personal phone number to the world, my personal  email contact. Etc, all the symptoms of a sucker to take to the cleaners. There are in fact those  in the world that see a weakness and move in for the kill. Such people  should probably read my book. But never mind. Sometimes  the fox pretends it has an injury, is weak and in trouble. The goose comes in to investigate and becomes the meal-- but never mind
I am also amazed how many nice people there are in the world , all over the world in every country, so refreshing, such an honor to know them! Sometimes I even give stuff to them for free! Not because  they deserve it. Those who feel they deserve something free probably  should  not have it for free. So don't  even ask. I made a conscious choice about how I want to run my web site and how i want it to look and work. It's successful. I do good business. If you do not understand it I'm concerned  That's  a red flag. The concept that it's not all for sale to anyone who looks at it and wants it. As a customer you do not have to buy from everyone who makes y an offer, and as a seller I do not have to sell to everyone  who looks. And to be honest there are about 50 answers to "Is this for sale?" Beginning with "Who are you and why are you here?"

Below is time that is calculated into my prices, that I can offer as free time
$10 sale equals 2 minutes example one email one question no personal picture
, $100 equals 10 minutes,
example a personal description, a photo on file , 2-3 email exchanges
$1,000 equals an hour. Example several personal pictures of item several descriptions several emails
$10,000 equals several hours. Example lots of pictures lots of emails phone calls references personal shipping inquiry and or talking to others to find best deals
$100,000 Lets get together in person. My place or yours? Mine? Bring your fishing pole. Lets talk while we fish.

Prices
Answers to frequenlty asked price questions begin with 'time I offer for free' chart above

The prices . Ah yes the weighty question of what to charge. The price depends. Depends on what?? Do you want it fast, or can you wait? Do you want the cheapest, or the highest grade? Do you want to pay for personal service, or get in and out quick? Are you buying a lot and will you probably return? or is this a one item one time interest? Is this an item you will re sell like you have a business? or is this for hobby --pleasure and a retail sale. I'm adaptable.
I can not list the 10 price categories for every item. It is best to go to my web site, cut and paste a picture or two to me of what you would like, and I might  give you a price.
Keep in mind it may take me half an hour to give you a price. So one consideration is aksing myself how much time yoiu gave me befor asking. Did you look around for an answer to your quesioin first? I have to find the item  in my shop - another building- take a picture weigh and describe the item and email back. Animal material are not consistent and price changes, sometime by the week. Each batch I get I pay a different rate for.   Rhe material  may have cracked, dried out be worth less or worth more as it is more rare today then last week. Laws  for  import export change effecting price, mayvbe a new permit is now needed. I might quote some ballpark figure off the top of my head from memory so you know what sort of value an item has but it is better to point and say 'this'. The more questions you have the more it cost. Time is money. If you buy it and are not happy then return it and get your money back. That's cheaper then hemming and hawing and being uncertain and distrustful  and keeping me to reassure you with my time and personal service. If you need references  look at my site and contact my references. Various solutions are on the web site. I'm not going to join you in worrying. I didn't  get where  i am by worrying. What I sell and offer is personal. That means I care where it  goes and who has it. My highest price is still within the boundaries of what is normal and to be exepected and not a rip off. If you  get it for less it will not be because  you argued me into a deal. Different  people pay different prices for a variety of reaons. Is that a problem for you? To me it is fair to you and it is fair to me. The bottom line is it is not a simple quesion to answer "How much is this one item?  I only need a minute of your time.  A quick answer!" It's possible you are on the wrong planet. Go back through the stargate. I have to verify I even have that item and that alone might take half an hour. Review my 'free time' chart and what my time cost you beyond the free limit.

Time that goes past the free limit is $65 an hour. See my 'what makes you  think you are worth so much?" answers elsewhere (scroll down)

'depends' On what?!? It depends on if you want service, quality, a low price, seconds, perfection, a story, good warranties, good return policy, someone you can trust, a long term business, quantity, and other factors and they all effect the price. If you want me to drop everything and focus on you and answer all your questions promptly and give you a personal picture tour of everything that interests you, I'd be glad to do that and you can pay for it. If you want to buy a raw material and then receive personal instructions on how to turn it into jewelry I'd be glad to do that and you can pay for it. If you want the best price, be in and out, exchange one email and no pictures and occupy the least amount of time, then you don't pay as much. If I enjoy our conversations and choose to give you my time because I am off the clock and having fun and have the time you might get a deal. If I perceive you as giving me a hard time, yanking my chain, and the talks are not fun, then you are on the clock because this is 'work' then you will pay more. If I think you do not respect the material and will never be back again and you have more money then time I might charge more. If you are respectful of the material and courteous , I think you might be back again and or tell others to where I might get more business, I might give you the price I give a friend. If you are honestly broke but I think the material will be good in your hands -maybe from a spiritual standpoint I have been known to give it away for free. But if I think you are running a line on me, I'm not beneath scamming a scammer. You might just receive a fake. Because it gives me personal pleasure to reward good deeds, but also mess with the karma of the greedy and rude. It bothers me to charge an amount someone honestly cant afford , while charging that same price to someone who obviously could care less what it cost. Some customers in fact respect my work - what I stand for, have money and tip me so to speak by paying a nice price, and I do not take advantage of that and they know it.
I have a bad memory - hate paperwork, hate doing things in the usual way, and enjoy having control over my business. Much of what I see in raw material is my own personal stash I have to much of and can part with. I don't have prices on things. I do my best to recall what I paid , how much I have, what it might cost me to replace it, how long I have been sitting on it, what kind of shape it is in now (raw animal products when not looked after can warp change color shrink weigh less crack etc) -- compared to a year ago and all these become factors in the present value. Price depends on if you get an ounce or a pound. Animal products are not uniform and it is very hard to put them all in 2-3 price categories. There is more then small medium and large. There is color and hardness and shape. No one wants to ask about a lynx claw and get 20 prices. So instead of posting the 20 prices, I get your inquiry -pick up in my hand what I have, make a judgment call and spout out a number. Tomorrow I might quote a dollar more or a dollar less. That upsets some people and often I simply do not remember a thousand items and a thousand categories off the top of my head or what I said yesterday. On Ebay prices can change by the second right? So mine change by the day. Why get indignant? Then you should have bought it yesterday. I'm not deliberately messing with you. Remind me what I said yesterday politely and probably I'll say “Oh-ok” It's also true - I might have just dropped a piece of firewood on my toe so today you pay a dollar more! I'm still not forcing you to buy it. Yes or no. Do you want it or not? Again my highest price is still fair and if you want to argue the price goes higher not lower because 'fun' cost less a good experience  cost less.

special orders no. probably not, but I still get talked into them
In general special orders take me 3 times as long to make, and are a third as fun to do as creating something on my own. Often what I do on my own turns out better anyway. Few people want to pay 3 times as much money. On my own I can work on 3-4 pieces at the same time so I drill holes for 3 items, sand 3 items using the same disk before changing. etc. I am more efficient and can wait till I have 20 items to run through a mass polisher and not have to polish it by hand. On my own project I do not have to hunt around for special materials a customer wants, or I said I had, but now see I do not, or have, but now see it will not work, will not fit, or I go to use it and break it. On my own I may begin as a necklace and end up as a pin. I may begin using turquoise and end up with opal. I may think I'm making something for $50 and end up with a $2,000 art piece. I may go to cast metal and accidentally contaminate it and instead of silver it is pink. Now it's suddenly worth more as a special secret metal I invented. I may realize I do not have the wolf I thought I had, and substitute a bear. I may begin, and set it aside and not finish it for a year. I may break it and have to redo it smaller. It's actually pretty unusual to have a piece come out as I planned it. Normally an art piece takes on a life of it's own. I may not be the master, the material is. It is my job to release the spirit within the material. It is hard to tell the material what it needs to be. I can start with an idea and the material says no, or the basic idea usually works but expressed in a way I never thought of. No one ever knows any of this when they look at the finished product. I never have to say “Well I wanted it to be a wolf but broke it and had to use a bear instead” I can say “See how the bear is perfect for this piece, how the colors blend and how the massive look of the bear fits the massive look of this claw?” I'm suddenly a gifted genius and not a screw up.
I have made over 20,000 one of a kind pieces and never made two. I have a problem making a pair of earrings that match. If you saw something of mine and want one just like it, that is usually a problem. It was a one of a kind never repeated design. If a customer likes my work and thinks they will be happy with whatever I come up with, keeping in mind the basic concept they seek like 'a wolf claw for a man using as eagle theme' and gives me freedom to let it happen, I can do this. If the customer is buying my art then this is what works. What tends not to work is when a customer wants me to work for them. They are my boss, and I am creating their piece, using their idea.
It is 'stressful' I suppose to know I must please one customer if I want to get paid. I'm usually under a time frame and I have to keep track of what the customer wants and where their piece is I'm working on. I'm someone
not used to following directions and instructions. I'm used to doing it all my way. I can't follow the direction on a can of juice and add exactly 4 cans of water. So, doing it the customers way is not likely to happen. It usually starts off sounding easy. Right up till they do not like how it is going. I've done a lot of successful special orders all right but had some real headaches too. So if you want a special order, email me. Maybe, who knows. If I accept doing it, I  do my best. In all honelsty it is usually the customer who is happy, not me.  I usually would have made more money doing it my way and pricing it after it was done.

Prices from free raw to spendy finished art
Prices! Ah yes the weighty question of what to charge. Let me talk about wolf claws as just an example Well guess what.   I can offer it free! Yes yes I'm sure you are pleased and eager to hear how you can acquire what you want for free! Oh here is what you do. Buy a ticket to Alaska or drive here. Buy a $5,000 snow machine, a $600 rifle , warm clothing and head out in the pucker brush and take all ya want! Cool huh! Help yourself! I hope you can read a map , know how to build a survival shelter if you break down, know state land from Federal land and which side of the river is Indian land? You know how to skin one? Ok ok maybe we scratch that idea.
So now you do not want it free? Now you want me to buy the snow machine deal with the Indians , the Federalies, the homesteaders and you want to pay for my knowledge and have me go fetch the wolf-- kill it--skin it --and cut off the feet? I can sell em cheap frozen you know! Yes! Maybe like $1 a claw! Yes! Cool huh! But of coarse it might be full of live maggots when you get it. You do know how to hold your breath don't you? Like I do! The smell of cooking a bloody rotting foot will in fact gag a maggot. But it saves a lot of money! You do know about not letting the bone come out of the hull? And how long to boil it? You wouldn't want to mess it up? Ok ok let me do that part I'm set up for it. So I boil it and glue the bone in and dry it and it no longer smells and it is dry and it is now called a 'raw material' but in fact it has been already processed quite a bit and to me is not raw but whatever. (raw to me is bloody and twitching) so I deal with all that gore and for $5 to $15 depending on size you can buy it raw! Cool huh! So you can turn it into jewelry! Double your money! Wow! You know how to drill a hole in it or cap it? If you do not know how you can split the hull or have the bone fall out later. You have good source for chains and cords you have the time it takes and the tools to do it too, right?
If not hey let me kill the wolf-- deal with the gore, sort clean dry size cap chain and it is ready to sell! For like $25 and all you do is give it as a gift, wear it yourself, or put it on a shelf to double your money on in your shop! Far out-- what could be easier! So! My question is what level do you want to buy in on?
The same holds for many items-fossils--even stones. Rough is always cheapest covered in dirt, unsorted by the ton for 10 cents on the dollar. But once I clean it grade it cut it rough it out you may call it 'rough' but I have already invested a lot of time or someone has. If you want it weighed and in a little bag all clean-- well that is another price from raw. I call that just one step below a finished product. Some customers want some to have spent an hour, cleaning the mud off cutting polishing grading etc etc which take skill and expenisve equipment. The customer wants to  buy it for a 10% above the 'right out of the ground' price, and the customer wants to spend 5 minutes using no skill and no tools, gluing a little do hikcy on it . Then sell it for triple the money on Ebay (or wherever). Go for it! But such customers find our there is no free lunch. Getting paid a lot for no skill is tough. I'm not excited about and it is not a priority to deal with the ignorant who think they can pay a skilled person 5 cents an hour, while they the unskilled make $50 an hour. I smile with tolerance but sometimes I just don't have time. Ihave more time for the ignorant if they want an item for personal use that will mean a lot to them and do not understand how business works. Such a customer needs to understand I am loosing money in order to be nice and help them.
In truth I am trying to sell stuff as far up the line as possible -as my finished art. I make the most profit. Selling you bloody wolf feet for $1 a claw barely pays me to turn the key on the snow machine. I deal with that when I'm not busy with more
important sales. Alaska is a high economy place with no slave labor nearby. It is hard to compete with 'rough' and cover the shipping etc. Cheap labor is 10 bucks an hour. Even then people starve to death on that. I do it but it is not where I make money. So! Now you know all about the wonderful world of selling the Alaska Wild! So again what level are you interested in?

Production-Quantity
In order to give the best competitive price on anything, what you want has to be what it is I am best at offering.
What I am best at offering (in terms of quantity and low price). Is a nitch market of offering a product somewhere between 'mass produced production work' and 'hand done one of a kind'.
Time . Hand done, one at a time might take 5 hours. Mass produced might take one minute. My middle road takes maybe half an hour per item.
Cost Mass produced has initial high cost of equipment, and involves employees. Best prices revolve around price breaks buying raw material by the ton. One of a kind, hand done means buying just enough to create this masterpiece. One at a time is art, and neither time or production cost is a major factor, only quality and design. Production is mostly about time and costs. I'm for now in between. I, for now, give  price breaks by the dozen or the gross.

I offer I still offer and can do the 'one of a kind high end gallery museum quality art' (where my time and cost is no object-you pay well for my talent-which is world known). . I can stretch my upper quantity limit and offer 50 of some types of product - even 100 of something. They will not all be hand done one of a kind works of art at gallery quality with prices at $100 each . They will not be mass produced by the thousand to be sold for $10 each. They will be in between. A nice product - unique, done with care - all items in the order looking 'similar' but not exactly alike, at a uniform set price of $35 (for example).
I have at any given time 500 finished pieces, but only half a dozen of any one design. Requesting specific items in quantity may require lead time and may have to be created during my usual working schedule in order to give you a good price - otherwise it becomes a rush special order. (do- able but not at a low price)
Price My best price will be ordering from my existing completed inventory of 500 pieces. My next best price will be, you give me plenty of lead time to create your inventory as part of my normal work and this may require a month or more. (I can explain why if interested). The next best price is for me to create your needs as a special order
From my inventory
The best price is allowing me the most choice. Time is money. If you want '20 pendants with a wolf theme between $20 and $45 retail' (for example) there is more of a chance I can fill this, and it is less of my time involved then if you want '20 pendants with a copper howling wolf on turquoise'
Lots of lead time
The next best price is giving me time to create the order. I may need to hunt around for a bargain on materials, or save to invest in a gross of something- when you only want 20. . If you want those 20 pendants with copper howling wolf on turquoise -give me 2 months and you might save 25% or more, over wanting it in two weeks.

Prices for shops and quantity sales. Can I get a deal on lots?
Personal  issues questions about me.

Challenge with small orders and getting paid
Paying for my time on small orders is not very workable in reality, the way my web site is set up. Example. A customer emails me asking if I have any wolf fangs in stock. What they really want is If yes, can I see some? So lets say I reply and honor the request and spend half an hour looking and taking pictures of the choices, quoting prices for each. It's not as easy as the customer thinks. I have fossil fangs fresh ones small medium and large of each, and ancient fangs that are tiny but nice. I have sharp ones with good points, dull ones that are fat and heavy. I have large damaged for less money. Etc. This transaction usually requires at least 3 emails exchanged. The total time is about an hour. So it's time to pay. I say “That is $30 for the fang and $65 for my time for a total of $95 please” Most customers are going to reply something like “Dream on you jerk! I don't think so! have a nice day!” They will never order from me again and probably tell 10 of their friends about how this crazy guy wanted to charge $95 for a $30 item. And I still spent an hour and have no sale and made 'nothing'. If I forget it! Give the customer what he expects, a $30 fang and limitless time, with the Ronald McDonald big smile. It's not hard to find myself working for 5 cents an hour. Those customers who think they understand, email me “I understand your time is worth something and expect to pay an extra $5 or so” Do I respond “Dream on you jerk! I don't think so! Have a nice day!” (?)
Put it all in a shop cart, no contact no questions no advice! That was at one time my great 'plan B!' But customers still manage to see my email address or phone number and call or email. Many, most, mean well, and just want to glom onto me and be my friend and pick my brain. Tell me how much they appreciate my work my web site my lifestyle and what I stand for and by the way one quick question, I know you are busy. The average 'quick question' is half an hour. Multiplied by 30 times a day (sometimes) Even 3 times a day is an extra hour and a half of my day. Issues with shop cart. #1 is I hate it. I'm Indiana Jones not some flunky clerk. I want to be outdoors having adventures facing dragons, or in my shop getting metal to 2,000 degrees and spinning it red hot and hear that “SSSSSSSS” I want to create art pieces that knock the socks off the world. Magic. Merlin. A shaman. Where I walk, the fabric of the universe parts. The fabric of creation does not part for bean counters! Geez!
When I was young and told my father I wanted to be a hunter and trapper and mountain man he asked me how come I don't just get a camera (and take pictures of cute fuzzy creatures, instead of killing them) My mouth hung open in shock. He had at the time dreamed of single handedly sailing around the world. I answered with a question of my own “Why don't you put model boats together and play with them in the bathtub?” I thought he understood Hemmingway. Lash yourself to the mast so you can feel the full force of the storm. I have in fact more then once in my youth faced bears point blank with one bullet in the gun and smiled “Make your move!” Does that sound like the sort who might be good at or enjoy measuring things and putting them in a computer? (Though I do like the magic of photography). Meaning after I kill the bear I stop to take a picture. Issue # 2 Once listed I have to know
where it is and keep it set aside. I pretty much put it in a drawer and forget about it with a number on it. I don't dare move it - bring it to a show or I'll never find it again. So there it sits, no one sees it. It's usually my best stuff, either raw or finished. A year can go by and I forget I even have it. It might have sold ages ago if I would have got it out for a show. I cant even imagine what my business might be like if 90% of my work was tied up in shopping carts. What would I take to the shows? My work moves all over the place. Some goes on consignment in shops, some at shows, some goes in a 'needs polishing again' box, or to friends who try to sell, or in the section for stuff that is organized so I can find it by kind of material it is made of. Thus there are like 5 places to look. Forget it. You look. I dreamed I might find an employee or a soul mate who was my other half. “I make it, you keep track of it” Like that. Split it 50/50. I'd be in heaven. As for me I cant do it. Not for a million dollars, not to save my life. I'd rather be dead. And in fact when a customer emails “I am sure glad I found your site, so here is a list of what I am looking for , I need length width weight a picture of the front the back and the ends and a full description. I look forward to discussing this with you!” My reaction is, well much as if a gay guy just ran up to me and French kissed me. “Yulko! Gross! Yilk! Get away from me! Ilk!” I try to calm down, be kind and polite and helpful. But I can't quite pull it off. My reaction is, you buy it, then you measure it, weigh it, to your hearts content. Enjoy yourself. I don't see the world in numbers. I see it in colors and feelings and moods. Call it the spirit world for lack of a better term. It might have a lot to do with why I have a passion for animal parts art teeth claws and fossils. It's all symbols, that mean something. You wear my art and it's like a book could be written about you ,what sort you are, it stands for something. It has energy. It speaks. Who cares what it weighs? What a silly question. Sort of like being interested in a gal. Is my first set of question going to be “What are your measurements?” I could care less. If I want to know, I cup my hand and decide if she fits. What else matters? Like that. Perfect, a handful.
I have built 10 cabins in my life never measured any of it. I've built hundreds of custom knives in my life never once measured the material to see if it fits. I eyeball it. If it does not fit, no big deal, I alter the design to fit, or I grab a new piece of material. Killed a lot of moose, never once even wondered how many inches the antlers are, Do not even know for sure where you measure at and do not care. Never trophy hunted, I hunt for food. Nor do I sell trophies. I suppose this does not sound like much of an answer. Most of my money is made when folks see all the cool stuff I have and fly here to buy it in large amounts. I don't mind weighing 100 pounds. It's grams and ounces at 2 cents profit that drive me nuttso. Shops galleries see all my art up there on the web, and have me send a bunch. After I know them I just send a bunch and they pick it over and buy what they want and return the rest. It works. I don't have to be a bean counter. So there! And you cant make me.

Talk is cheap how do I know you are worth what you say you are!?
Some people arrive at my web site and understand it immediately,  it all makes sense. Others are confused , - cant figure it out. Here's the quick and dirty version of what's going on (long version = my books). Normal, civilized, and ordinary, I consider insults. I spent 25 years of my life as a savage, alone in the Alaska wilds. I learned how to do things my way. I live in another world.  If you like my art- appreciate my raw materials 'different and unique' are a direct result of how I view the world. To do business with me we need to define things the same way. I provide links to explain how I define for sale, special order, raw, soon, business, that might help us sing from the same sheet of music. I've gone through a great effort to avoid misunderstandings.

How do you take care of shipping?
How does your web site work?
How do I take care of my new item?
What are the laws and legality of animal parts for sale?
Pictures! No prices! Is this a store or a museum! How can I buy anything? Are you a moron or just lazy!

Let us  get our fingers out and count the reasons together.
#1 I am a one man show with thousands of things to sell. Cutting and pasting a picture I already took, putting it up on a web site takes 2 minutes and I never have to return. Listing a price with description dimensions takes half an hour. I must remember where that picture is so I can later find it. I must return to change the information if it sells or prices change. This process takes 5 times longer, and would result in one 5th the product shown.
#2 Getting listed high up in the search engines is a direct result of a huge web site. This web site has over 1,000 pictures and 46 pages. Businesswise I am better off being found and having nothing to sell - or selling one item, or merely being introduced to a very important person, then listing 10 items, and no one visits my web site because the search engines never consider my site important enough to list in a customer search.
#3 I'm semi retired and do not need the business to be huge or to grow. I live a simple basic subsistence life that does not revolve around money being my God. I therefore have no problem with a viewer being in a museum to look, enjoy, but not buy. You have to work at it to buy anything, contact me, ask questions and I might have time and I might not. If you are too busy, you are free to leave. I'm not here to push anything on you. I'm doing you a favor, you are probably not doing me a favor.
#4 With a lot of visits to my site I get to pick and choose which customers I have time for, or are interesting, or will be easy to help. 95% of my income is from 5% of my customers. My living is mostly made from regular customers who do big business with me, who trust me and are loyal, who I offer personal service to. As much as 50% of my customers I lose money on (or am working for $1 an hour). Those loyal rich regulars found me, and I catered to them because of having so many customers pass through my web site. Thus one function of the site is to be my resume. Or the bait to catch the big fish. I do not set it up this way because I am either stupid or lazy.
#5 I'm one of the best there is in the world at what I do. I could have a different business and you'd never meet me, never even have a chance to get an email reply or see my work or materials. My idea is to give everyone the opportunity to tell me what it is they want and why. My reasons to do business with you may not have to do with profit. I donate my time and materials for free sometimes to those I feel can use my knowledge,, art, or materials. Because I am considered gifted by many, and make $65 an hour when I need the money. Those who have money are often happy to pay me what they feel I am worth, and have no problems paying me well. They may see things in me they wish to support. Those who come to me with a scam go to the back of the line, they had their chance and blew it. Those who treat me like a servant or clerk, or like they have arrived at McDonalds', may have to wait longer. Those who have a need, want me to care, but have no concern for my need, may not get served at all. Good business people, smart people, kind people, can be found in any country, of any race or religion, any age, and every economic range. A river of people flow by me and I decide who to sell to, based on any criteria I wish.
#6 People do not have a problem with the concept they will shop around for the right supplier, a good price, a store they like. Customers tend to feel they have every right to walk in a store, look around, grab up any free stuff, entertain themselves, visit, chat, get information, and walk out without buying anything. What goes around comes around. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. There should therefore be no problem with a seller who likewise picks and chooses customers to sell to, based on the same criteria shoppers use when shopping. Most customers would consider it 'rude' and 'cheeky' for a clerk to ask why you are in the store, and if you are not here to buy, leave! Maybe it is just as rude and cheeky to ask why I run my business as I do. Maybe I am entertaining myself. Maybe it is not your business. You can figure it out, or leave. Have a nice day. Don't let your computer crash on the way out.
#7 I could go on, but probably 6 answers should be enough. Next!

Hello Miles: My daughter is absolutely in heaven with some of the items I bought for her from you a few weeks ago. Saving a few for Xmas. Do you have any more copper nuggets..my favorite? She fell in love with the moonstone. Any more? Am dying the moose bone and stabilizing a bit of it to see how it turns out. Let me know on the availability of the two items above and cost. Thanks John John Lloyd see above related

Hello Miles: Recd the goods yesterday. Good load! I am guessing that all the white bone is moose? My daughter will be ecstatic. The copper nuggets are great...I think my favorite of her stuff. Never saw anything like it except some big gold nuggets I have from the late 50s when I lived in Anchorage and gold was 30$/oz. How do you cut the mammoth tooth? Diamond saw? I think I'll have it stabilized first. The balleen is very interesting. I think it will be perfect for what I call a "gents" folder. I am going to have the moose bone stabilized and dyed. What do you do with the mammoth bone...or the dark grey stuff? How does it cut and finish? Thanks alot for the new toys...I love raw materials. I have been a wooworker for forty yrs now and still collect wood...by the thousands of board ft. Have aobut 40,000 bd ft now and still collecting more. Hah! Thanks again. John

Miles!! I got the parcel today!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful selection!! The Lynx jaw and Moose hoof were such a surprise! I am so delighted!! Thank you so much for such wonderful service! I am very sorry about the price of postage, but i have an idea. Since you were so good to your word i should like to order some more parts, and whatever i owe you we can put on the next bill. I especially liked the jaws and wondering if you had any others? i also wouldn't mind looking at proces for sections of moose antler, I would quite like a mooses' skull but i imagine that even the small ones would be such an immense size as to render the postage out of my range! Dang. Well i hope this message finds you well, i have a more stable source of income now so money isn't a huge problem, i look forward to dealing with you again in the VERY near future
All the best Lily

I just found your web site - cannot tell you how refreshing it is to read your philosophical views and values. It speaks volumes (all good as far as I am concerned).

I feel that I can simply tell you what I want to do and say "send me five pieces of (? whatever?)" - and leave the choice up to you - And, know that you would send me the best pieces for my needs. Your being an artist too, gives me even more confidence.

Hi, #1 email
I tried to copy and paste a pix to this but would not paste so here goes.
My hubby and I are retired and struggling to start our own jewelry business. I design, he does the wire work.
He is very , very good but................we need something that others don't have in our area such as your mammouth beads and any other fossil beads you sell.
We don't have much capital yet, but are working on selling ordinary beads right now to obtain some working capital.
Seems like both of us have always been a day late and a dollar short and we would really like to have designer pieces to make a "killing " with, so to speak.
Could you email some pix, and prices of beads you have and teeth that are drilled. We are signed up to do a "Indian pow wow" at Fort Robinson in Nebraska in June and would love to have some really neat pieces to take there.
Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated.
Any fossil chips that could be drilled for a bracelet or necklace could be used now until we can afford better and the best.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help and for responding.
Gloria & Chuck Hill

(now wintering near Quartzite, Arizona)

Hey David
Glad the tooth arrived and you are happy. As for the size. Many people selling are full of shit, or do not have any knowledge themselves and have never seen a real timber wolf fang and offer fangs from a lower 48 state wolf that is closer to a coyote. Our wolves can weigh over 200 pounds and be over 7 feet long-bigger then many bears. Some more common wolves that are not timber wolf are only 50 pounds. You probably got a coyote tooth that someone called a wolf. Anyhow got to go and good luck drilling hope it came out ok. Miles.

Dear Miles,
the tooth just arrived to me!!!! WOW!!!! It is incredibly huge if I compare it to my other wolf tooth, it seems like it is prehistoric?
Thank you very much.
Please, tell me how is possible the tooth has 7cm?
I am going to try to drill the small hole in it and let you know. I hope and pray it will stay ok.
Have a nice day
David

P.S. I'm wearing your fossil tooth pendant with the howling wolf cap I bought from you some months back--it's awesome and I still get nice comments on it when I wear it to work. I work with children and the kids totally dig it.

Hi Miles,
I hope you stayed high and dry during the flooding in Nenana. I've been watching the situation on the NewMiner website and often think of you.
I'll be taking my beautiful knife to Canada next week on my annual walleye fishing trip. I know the guys will be envious when they see it. It's a unique knife and I'm delighted to have a piece of your artwork. Thanks for making it and selling it to me.

Miles, Hey, I just opened the package (away from the office for four days). Everything looks great, and the fangs in particular are impressive "in person". I'm still waiting for the center piece to arrive; once it does and I string this all together I'll send you a picture of it. I have at least one other project for the not-too-distant future that I will be talking with you about. Thanks for being available and doing what you do. Keep up the good work! -Guy

Hi Miles,

Miles you have a eye in art that only a few have. Great piece. Make me a 100 - let use gold!!
Any of the options work for me. Miles - no bull shitting here - Korite - owns 90% of this market. The quality of the gem you have if you set it in gold start retail price would be ~$2,500.00.

It's been good doing bussiness with you, I will keep an eye on your website,

I wish you safety through the winter, and may you never go hungry,

Hello Miles,
Eager to show you the Damacus knife that you supplied to me. This is my first job. I just can spend 10-20 minutes per day, and it took me more than 1 month to finish it. Though it still contains some minor imperfections but Im really happy with it. Thank you for the blade!
Wish you all the best!

Hi Miles,
I got the knife today......it is beautiful and really feels nice in my hand.....a good weight.
The blade is really sharp and the lock back mechanism is so easy to use.

Miles, Wow! Is that ever a beautiful piece of ancient mammoth tusk I just got in the mail. Thank you! I've put it away in the back room of my house and I'll watch it carefully to be ready if any cracks start to develop after its change from your climate to mine. The temperatures are running between 30 and 45 degrees (we even had snow last night on the mountains in the San Francisco bay area, where I live), so the ivory has received a nice welcome to this new, strange place. Thanks again, Robin

days ago. The are amazing!!!
Thank you for going along with the ruse and playing it so well. I have done some ceremony with them and am now wearing the fang

Greetings Miles,

Authenticity is my favorite thing. You are the real deal & a genuine survivalist. Your page is a great resource. I'm sure I will refer back to it often. Found it in a Google search for tips on how to repair my mother-of-pearl carved hawk pendant. The head broke off where the hole was drilled through the sides of the neck. It was glued in the past but never stays attatched. It was made by the artist Gary Knack who may have his own page by now. I got side-tracked, intrigued by your site.

I also was hoping to learn the best glue for re-attatching a clasp to a stem of fossilized tusk or bone, I believe. It is part of a set of intricately carved feather earrings. Seeing as to how you are in the Interior these are not materials you'd come across. My son got me the earrings last year while he still lived in Fairbanks. Is it possible you made them? I live on 2 acres in the Kenai Peninsula and respect the rigors of your way of life. Seems you are part of a dying breed and by the looks of your book, must be some kind of a living legend. Your work is quite beautiful. I just wanted to thank you for your tips and wish you all the best in the new year. Carolyn

I appreciate the effort. Every other response I've been getting has been from mining wholesalers saying a minimum order of $500 with freight or things of that nature. It is good to be working with a person. The end of January would be kind of late, but if that is how long it may take for you to find it, then I can wait. I realize this has a cost, I realize you have mostly larger orders, but I trust your judgment and I think more people ought to do business like you. Aaron

Hello my friend,
Just sent you $60 through pay pal...
Thank you for the medicine that you are sending my way - and the warm words & e-mail conversations.
I will do my best to represent the wolf in the concrete jungle of NYC.
all the best,

Hello Miles: My daughter is absolutely in heaven with some of the items I bought for her from you a few weeks ago. Saving a few for Xmas. Do you have any more copper nuggets..my favorite? She fell in love with the moonstone. Any more? Am dying the moose bone and stabilizing a bit of it to see how it turns out. Let me know on the availability of the two items above and cost. Thanks John John Lloyd see above related
Wednesday, November 07, 2007

WOW I love the knives I'm on the road currently and will be back in town on thursday, I will send a longer reply then, but I would love the idea of the wolves running with the silver moon and I would like to purchase both knives...
Talk to you soon and I could not be happier with the progress of both blades.
Thank you again so much

Hi Miles,
I got the moose bone and antler tine on Saturday, 9/22/07. The mail service is sure good between Alaska and here apparently. I know the antler tine will work out well. I think the moose bone will also be fine if I can figure out the correct places to cut it to get the best thickness and shape. They are both good pieces and I appreciate your handling the order so fast. I look forward to placing another little order soon.
Thanks, Miles.
Keith

Good afternoon Miles,
I can definitely see why people would think that way about you. This is one of the reasons why I prefer dealing with you over anyone else-- your knowledge and respect for the materials you work with, and the lifestyle you lead. You have an appreciation and understanding that not a lot of people have anymore.
Your box arrived yesterday, and thank you so much for the items you included! The fur is wonderful, and the bones are perfect. Thank you for including the lynx claws, I'll have fun experimenting with wire- wrapping, and the little knuckle bones will make great beads. The bear tooth is stunning. I just love fossil teeth.
I'm really tempted by that jaguar tooth, and that polar bear tooth as well! I'm going to have to check my budget and see what's going on.
Because of you, my fossil collection is expanding!
Hey, if you ever come across anything snow leopard, let me know? I've been searching high and low for something from a pre-ban rug, or a fossil, anything, to go into a special project featuring snow leopards.
Anyway we will be in touch. Take care and talk to you soon, Erin

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Howdy Miles,
I spent an hour looking at your artwork. You are extremely talanted MIles, but i'm sure you've heard that many hundereds of times.
Very exotic carvings and castings. The look as though they hold magic within the stones and ivorys and metals.
I didnt realise you casted metal as well. WOW!!! Super nice work. It is easy to see that your work consumes a lot of your time and that you no doubt enjoy what you do and how you live emencly.
There are very few people who are able to enjoy life like you do sir. I salute you!!

Friday, May 21, 2010
Hi Miles,
that was the most clear and fairest explaination I have ever been a recipient of since I began looking for these things.
I really appreciate your email and will revisit your web site.
I probably will have more inquiries for you.
aloha,
ron

Dear Miles & Irene,
Wow! I sure did enjoy seeing you both in Tucson this past February!
I can only imagine what it is like in Alaska today as I send this note to you.
I woke up in the middle of the night (whatever that means) last night and decided to listen to your stories on tape. I felt the presence of Alaska, Miles, through your stories here in southern California. It was awesome. I love the story of the moose and the howling winds. I will continue with more stories tonight... Thank you for sharing the mood of Alaska through your inspiring stories!
I am looking forward to reading your book!
I hope you enjoy the photos of you and Irene taken in Tucson close to your anniversary on Valentines Day!
Please take care,
LaVonne

Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Hi Miles,

I love the work you did on my lion claw. I would like to send you the other claw if you can cast a bronze cover over the entire bone portion with a little texture similar to the one you did. If you can do this I was wondering how much do you charge for that kind of work?

Please let me know and I will get the claw in the mail right away. In fact I am so certain you can do something that I will like I will mail it tomorrow.

Thanks,
Dave

Saturday, March 20, 2010
I received the order yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. The bones are beautiful and the fur is wonderful. Thanks also for the free Marten fur (admittingly I had to google to find out what it was). I plan on placing another order soon. I'm just so happy. When I finish I'll try to remember to send you a picture. Sunny

Miles,
Thank you so much for your time. I completely understand that some people are picky and I know the value of ivory. I am very glad that I found you and I plan to use you for all of my ivory and walrus needs. If I could afford it right now, I would take all of the pieces. All of them are beautiful to me. I would like, however, pieces #1, #2, #4, #5, and #7. I will be sending payment of $310.00 by pay pal in a couple of minutes. Again, thank you for your kind and quick service.
You are truly an artist.
Thank you,

Hello Miles,
I got my package today and the items you sent were fantastic! I am thrilled to have found someone like you to buy from, so much so in fact that I am going to order the other two fossil lion fangs from you. I believe they were $95 each, so $190 total, and I will paypal it to you as soon as I email this. Best wishes to you and I hope everything has settled down a bit on your end. I will also be glad to show you photos of the finished pieces I make with these, especially the section of wolf jaw. I have big plans for that one.
Thanks again, and the money for the two other fossil lion fangs is on its way. Do you know if they are all from the same animal by chance? Just curious.

Subject: Howdy up North my Friend
Got the teeth and am very pleased. Ill send you some photos when she gets the sweater done. Maybe a week, had a minor set back on the sleeves.
Hope you had a nice Christmas, the white part is most likely an automatic up there.
I was looking at some of your stuff and have a question. Do you put custom handles on sheath knives? I have a couple that I would like done in mammoth tooth or tusk maybe. One has no hilt, is that a problem? The one I am thinking of is a Dozier camp knife. The tang I guess is the size of the scales, know what I mean. I just found a photo so Ill attach. Its not the same but pretty darn close.
Ill be in touch
Happy New Year!

Monday, December 28, 2009

Miles, Merry Christmas and I hope everything is going well for you. I thought I would write and tell you that my wife loved the knife you made. Of course, we love everything Alaskan. Have a great new year. Sincerely, Buda Jerry

Thursday, December 24, 2009
Hey Miles, The two knives you made for me have been delivered and the guy loves them. He thinks the art work is great... and the functionality of the knives are also. He especially likes the larger handle on the fishing knife. Thanks again, you do such great work. Good luck on completing your third book and I hope the winter is good to you... Hope to see you next year when I'll back in the area,
Ray

Saturday, December 19, 2009
Good evening Miles,
I just started your book, and wow! What an interesting life, I'm enjoying it very much. I'm already up to page 154. You have some many interesting and insightful things to say, and a few things I feel I can relate to to a certain extent. I remember when I was a kid I wanted to live in Alaska, hunt, and have my own dog-sled team and run the Iditarod. Ha! Before that I wanted to be a railway hobo. I was such an odd kid. The dog sled and hunting dream has never fully left me though, I hope to get my hunting license sometime soon, and have my own homestead someday.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009
heya miles the mammoth ivory showed up today thanks looks like some really usable pieces been doing some reading will see how it goes at some point thanks again peace Sarah

Monday, December 14, 2009 Erin
Just letting you know that everything arrived safe and sound. Thank you for autographing the book, I looked through it and it looks very interesting, I can't wait to sit down and start reading it (probably over the holiday vacation!). I also showed it to a friend, who is an artisan who also works with bone and lapidary, and she's very interested not only in getting a copy of your book for herself, but also in doing business with you, as I showed her your website. She'll probably get in contact with you soon, her name is Raven.
Those mammoth ivory beads are real awesome, and now I desire some for myself! The capped fossil tooth you sent is going to a friend who is serving as a combat medic in Afghanistan. He loves wolves, and he'll really appreciate this unique little piece of home.

Tuesday, December 08, 2009
good morning miles

so i really appreciate your taking the time to get back i have lots of other materials being a collector of bones n such most of my life have a brother and nephew who live in montana and pick up some sheds

Saturday, December 05, 2009
Hi, sorry about the mix up. Yes I ordered 2 wolf claws with the howling wolf caps. Are these able to be put on a necklace or earring? I want one for an earring for a man so I didn't want anything too gaudy or big. The other one I will save for me and make a necklace. Great selection of items! Also like your philosophies regarding life.
That is why I bought from you! Thanks, and happy holidays.
Diane Holdreith

Sunday, November 29, 2009
Yes I used the knife you made to cut the skin off my deer, and it worked very well. It handles easy for getting in close between the skin and meat to cut through the clear membrane that binds them together. A very good design for the wrist to control the blade without holding the knife in an awkward position. I like it a lot. It looks cool too. People I show it to just stare at it for a while cause they never seen one like it around here. They don't sell these at Walmart. Ha! Mark

Sunday, November 29, 2009
Miles, I received the knife today and it looks great. Really unique item and very impressive. Thanks alot for the work. Keep me posted on the solid gold mammoth request. Thanks, Buda Jerry

Thursday, November 26, 2009
Thanks Miles I can't wait, what a cool thing to complete my first knife. Will be taking my knife to another knife maker this next weekend and he will heat treat it ($15.00). Once mailed back to me the tang I made and the mammoth ivory goes on. Then I will pick up some leather at Tandys and finish a nice sheath for it. Thanks again Miles for your patience and working with me on this special project.

Tuesday, November 03, 2009
Hey Miles, This looks fantastic, I am loving this. It's better than what I hoped for, actually. The $200 total sounds great, I'll pay you with paypal very soon and thank you for everything. I will do this as soon as possible for your convenience. Once again, thank you for your hard work! Take care, Katie

Wednesday, October 28, 2009
Greetings Miles,
I just wanted to let you know your package arrived safe a couple days ago. I would have emailed much sooner but work had me busy. I just love the stuff you picked out--and my friend is very happy too. I was pleasantly surprised to see two wolf skulls in there (they're very nice), and I really enjoyed the extra goodies you included. The wolf fang you selected is real nice, and all the broken fangs will be incorporated in some sort of art project. I'll send you some photos once I'm done with things if you like. In a couple weeks I'll probably be contacting you again for another order.
As well as artwork, some of these things I use in educational nature programs for children, as part of the job I do for the county government. You'd be amazed how their faces light up when they see these things. It gives them such a deeper appreciation for nature, and some of them come from the inner city and don't have the opportunities to see animals and/or touch artifacts from nature, so it's a great experience for them.
As always, a wonderful experience working with you. Thanks very much and hope you're doing well. We'll be in touch again soon.
~Erin

Wednesday, October 21, 2009
In any case, thank you for your business once again. Your materials help spice up my artwork and give me something amazing to have in my hands, and your website is very informative in dealing with/learning about these raw materials and helping me improve on my technique. I'd also like to work out some wholesale with you in the future...I'm very low maintenance where that goes and require little if any picture-taking, and can show you examples and photos of my work and the vending I do with my friends at area events sometime.
In any case, thanks again and hope all is well with you. We'll be in touch!
~Erin

Hello :-) The claw arrived, my friend was so happy for it. Thank you very much. Take care. best regards from Iceland, -Sunna.

Friday, September 25, 2009
Miles, Just received the Eagle Rock and it is stupendous. You are getting better each time in your old age. Really appreciate it and will be staying in contact. All My Best, Buda Jerry

Monday, September 21, 2009
Both packages came today. Bob says the leg bone is perfect and he can get two knives from it. I'm going to hang the shoulder blade on the wall for now. I'm keeping all the packing material for it, and the invoices, because I travel across the Canada/US border and I don't want any grief from Customs either way -- it'll help that it says fossils.
I'll wear the fang around my neck most of the time. I've been dreaming about a lion a lot recently -- I'm really glad you had this. And there ARE times occasionally, when I want to dress like a girl -- I'll get a silver chain for the mammoth ivory bead, and wear it instead then. Although, I think a lion's fang around my neck when I'm wearing a long skirt and heels might send a better message about who I am than not. Thanks for including the bead -- it's beautiful.
I've just sent $40 with PayPal. Your invoice said $30 for the shoulder blade and the postage was $9.40. If there should be more for time and mileage, let me know.
Thanks,
MorningStar

Monday, September 21, 2009

I look forward to working with you; it is refreshing to be dealing with someone who understands & respects what I do & how important it is to me. I consider my pieces a way to honor the animal's spirit - all are created with love & dignity. I don't mean to sound like a nut job....this is important to me. And you get it - that is very important to me too. Looking forward to my package! :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR GUIDANCE!

Lisco, Nebraska

Have a nice day
David

Thanks again, Miles. Take care and talk to you soon!

Hi Miles,

The fang has found its way to me. Its beautifull! I'm very happy with it. It arrived just in time to be worn tomorrow in a samhuin ritual. Thanks for the opportunity you gave me to buy it, thanks for ur advise on the glue, and since all good things come in triads, thanks for the comic you wrapped the tooth in, nice touch :)

It's been good doing bussiness with you, I will keep an eye on your website,

I wish you safety through the winter, and may you never go hungry,

Hella

Hello Miles,
Eager to show you the Damacus knife that you supplied to me. This is my first job. I just can spend 10-20 minutes per day, and it took me more than 1 month to finish it. Though it still contains some minor imperfections but Im really happy with it. Thank you for the blade!
Wish you all the best!

Hi Miles, I got my package yesterday. That was fast considering it had to go across the whole country. Everything arrived safely and looks great. You are right - the opal is even prettier when you can see it in person. Thanks very much! Penney

Hi Miles,
I got the knife today......it is beautiful and really feels nice in my hand.....a good weight.

Thank you also for the owl feathers. We shared them.

Seeing as to how you are in the Interior these are not material

Trades
When I trade I like to have a money value on what I have and hear a money value on what I am trading for. The value of something in a trade deal can depend if you are selling it or buying it. Being in business I need to trade up This means I need to double my money. Or least on some way make a profit. If we are both in business sometimes I can trade wholesale to wholesale for an item I think I can sell or for a raw material I can add value to, or I trade a raw material for a finished product.
I usually loose interest if someone values highly what they have. Its like going to a garage sale and hearing someone say You know what thats worth new? I suggest they do not part with it then. Because its only worth 10 bucks to me. If I want it new I buy it new with a warranty. There are 3 best situations for me. One is when someone has a surplus of something and they are tired of it and want it gone. I myself sometimes part with things like this. I need room. I have had the item a while and Im tired of looking at it. I want it to disappear. Number two is elders who have been in business many years and are now just to old to be in the business and want to retire or pass the material on to someone who appreciates it, can use it, can get it out to the market instead of sitting around. Number 3 is related to #2 sometimes. Parting with something for other reasons then money. Wanting the material in good hands, appreciated used, enjoyed. Sometimes people want to support the things I do, believe in, stand for. A subsistence life, hand made items, a life close to nature. I myself do the same and feel the same sometimes. I see a youngster, or a struggling artist or someone who has not tried some material or cant afford it and I just say Here, try this or do a trade I break even on or loose money on, because I know it is helping someone a lot or will be appreciated.
There is a 4th best situation. Another professional used to being in the business who knows how business runs. They understand wholesale and retail, are not offended when they hear a price and I need what they have, they need what I have. We know each other, trust each other, and do a swap, no mess no fuss. We know the value and market for what we passed on and what we acquired. Its in our line of business and I know the profit margins. I trade ivory like that, trading my carveable material for someone elses bark suitable for jewelry and knife handle scales.
Sometimes there is a 5th common situation I come across. This is an estate sale or someone passes away and the relatives are cleaning up, passing the stuff along, want it gone. They do not understand it, do not want to spend a lot of time dealing with it and make a big pile and I take it all, some is good some not and I sort if out later.
Problem trades come in categories usually. The most common, is when someone wants what I have, and cant afford to buy it. They want to save money, so try to come up with something to trade, but do not really have what I usually deal in. And they value what they have, telling me what it is worth and I am in a situation not knowing what it is worth. Or I dabble in the material, but it is not my usual line of work. #2 big problem is again someone values something a lot, because they found it, or it was a special gift, or they feel it is very rare. Often they are not in business, and only hear surface information on what people sometimes get for this item (a high retail sold once on ebay). Often they are in a bind, need the money, but wish they did not have to part with this item. They do not understand I see this material in my line of work by the ton. They do not understand my customer rarely cares about the original owners personal problems or feelings or attachments. If I relate the story it sounds like a con and a scam to get more money. Sometimes it sounds like a scam when I hear it. If I do not know you, you have to leave your personal problems out of it. I sometimes deal with drunks who see me as a pawn shop and begin with I have a need But I do not look out for your need. I look out for what it is I need. I want to be fair and honest, and not rip anyone off, neither the seller the buyer or my source.
These are the basics when it comes to trading. If you fit into one of these situations, the deal goes faster and better and you can get more if there is not as much time involved, so just state the situation, so we both know where we are at.

How trading with me works if you have something you think I want
Aquiring my best- who gets it and how
Anything to do with prices
Why does my website need explaining, definitions, instructions? I am different. My art is unique and different, my raw materials are unique and it is all offered in a unorthodox manner. Not on purpose. I am not trying to be difficult. For every Yin there is a Yang. For all that goes up ther must be a down, a balance. A price to pay along with a reward to reap.  Along those lines..... I spent 25 years of my life alone in the Alaska wilderness as a trapper subsistence person mountain man. Much if what I learned about 'life' I got from the land. Much of what I know and practice about business I learned from the wild. Wolves do not kill every caribou they see. If there is a herd they get that herd milling and simply watch. Dinner often presents itself for those who are patient, in the right place ready waiting and able. During those years I had much time to think, reflect, practice my art, gain the knowledge I would later use in my 'things from the land' business. Since I attended no schools, learned under no one and was not a member of society, some of my ways are simply 'different'. Since personal service means dealing with a person, doing successful business with me, that meets your satisfaction,  requires you know what you can expect and not expect.
Anything to do with me my personality how I think etc

Raw materials no price
See also my answers to frequently asked questions page-  ‘art no price’. It takes me 5 minutes to upload a pile of pictures to the web site and walk away. It takes 15 minutes per item to list items for sale and describe them. I’d rather show you 1,000 items I have that you need to inquire about if you want, then 10 items carefully labeled and priced and you think it’s all I have. Oh yes- it will cost more if you have to email me and ask, and I have to send pictures and do the descriptions to sell it to you. That’s the idea. Those with money get special service, and those who do not, can pick from the 10 items in the shop cart. Raw materials shown can also give ideas for special order finished art. Someone cuts and pastes a picture “I’d like something like this as a pendant with an opal on it” If you cut and paste from my web site it makes it much easier for me to go look for material I know you like. A picture is worth a thousand words. Often there are many more choices then can be described. A simple wolf claw for example can be tan or black curved or fat, with a bone on top or not, small or large massive looking or dainty. I can glace at the picture you cut and pasted and in 2 seconds understand what you want. I do not have an hour to discuss the subtleties of the elusive wolf claw. (as an example). Think of my web site as a junk yard antique shop yard sale. Stuff under tarps in the back yard, or in dusty boxes in a building out back, maybe 10 years old I forgot I even had. I once misplaced $10,000 worth of ivory and did not know where it was for a year, for example. Here you are - poking through it looking for treasures. Here you are at the source dealing with the guy who may have dug it up. At yard sale prices. Because if low overhead and no middle people. Those who do not get it and do not understand might be better off with one item under a spot light at 10 times the price- well described- with a hired clerk ready to chat with you about it. The idea here is we want to do the deal quick and dirty. Hunkered down together in the dust of the shop, with a bare light bulb swinging overhead. Realizing you have stepped into a Indiana Jones movie. Or I am the sole owner of a junk yard running the register out front. You come in and ask me if I have a 53 Chevy hub cap. Without looking up I hand you a screwdriver and tell you to go out back and look. Out back as far as the eye can see are wrecked cars piled 20 high. Of all makes years brands colors. Organized by size. If you bring what you want up to the register, it’s 2 bucks. If I have to close the shop and go look with you it’s $100.
But alas I can not run it like this! Because you rummage through pictures not the real item. If you show me the picture how do I connect it to the object? That picture may have been sitting on the web site 5 even 10 years. I may not even recall ever putting it there. I’ll be darn. Where’d you find that? I have 46 pages and over 1,000 pictures up. I skandisk and defrag my brain each evening when I go to bed. I wake up in the morning with blank fast ram. Ready to load with now fresh data. I see a yellow orb out the window and load up ‘sun’ I open my emails and say ‘friends’. By the end of the day I’m stuttering with all the data I loaded today and ready to begin the whole thing again. It’s pictures. I had that stuff one time. Who knows when or if I still have it or where. It’s $65 an hour to find out. But you only want to know the price and do not have much money or time and…. “Next!”. See ‘doing business 101’, see definitions ‘good customer’ Oh it might be worth asking. Who knows I might have seen it and remember where it is? I might need a break from the computer and willing to get my snow suit on and go out in the 50 below Alaska dark to go look in the unheated warehouse. I might want to donate my time to a worthy cause. I rarely actually turn people away. I never know from what direction a good future customer, even a friend will turn up from, or a source for something in a trade.. Among the poor the rich the smart the not so smart. I deal with an amazing bunch of people. In my fancied life as Indiana Jones (Or perhaps the Wizzard of OZ) I deal with those supplying me with raw material who live in the wilds as antisocial, even criminals, but hasten to add among my friends are lawyers, judges, senators, a few millionaires. So far no movie Stars though, except I personally sold a set of wolf claw necklaces to the Steppenwolf band who praised me highly. A very red letter day in my life. But anyhow - so this partly explains raw materials put up there with no organization no apparent rhyme or reason. It might be like a museum. You can look, and I can share, and it may not even be intended to sell. Just so we can share together “Cool, wow, nice stuff , nature is grand huh?” Why do we have to own it? Why is that concept so strange?
Or some see me as a shaman. My role is to be a middle man connecting people to material that has deep meaning for them. out of their dream. The man of magic. When I recognize this connection I focus on that single item and take the time to find it, weigh it, come up with a price and picture. I hope to get paid more for this personal service. But money is not my God and now and then I even give it away - donate it to a worthy cause. But note I choose the cause, as I never bet into another man’s game. No one likes to get scammed. Read my references of satisfied customers. I wear many hats, fill many needs - that to me is part of doing good business. I deal with fellow artists, museums, collectors, witches, native Americans, knife makers, investors, do appraisals, repairs, I write I make knives sell raw sell art work stone carve ivory cast metal, design web pages, garden live subsistence so I am a busy person. I can not be an expert any everything. Organization is one of my failings, and inability to remember numbers or people. I prefer to wear dirty jeans then suit and tie. I do not do straight lines. I make sure my hands are dirty when I have them in pictures showing my art or materials. I make sure my socks do not match. I’m probably eccentric. And proud of it. Because I can wink and whisper humbly "Also gifted" Read my book.

I have pictures of raw with no description- no price no way to buy- how come?
, November 24, 2010
Awesome! Thanks for your reply Miles.

How much are the Musk Ox horn tips and the moose tines? Those would be great!

I am thrilled that I found your website (and you!). I have been looking for quite some time for a place to buy this sort of material for her.

hello,
I sent you money via paypal with a note saying for what but they only allow 300 characters so I will finish here. I sent a total of $55. $15 is for a guard either a fish or a whale which ever one you have in copper. The rest is for shipping and any scrap material you deem worthy of being guard, pommel, bolster, spacer, or inlay. like walrus ivory, mammoth ivory or tooth or musk ox, or like I said any scrap you have that you deem worthy. I am totally happy with the previous shipment, if i was gay I would fly there and kiss you. lucky for you I am not. The walrus ivory is the most amazing piece I have ever seen. The pictures did not do it justice the colors are crazy pretty.

Good morning Miles,

Thanks a whole lot. This is going to be great. I'll let you know as
soon as everything arrives and what people think of it. I'll even
send photos of completed pieces from people I know, etc. If you end
up short on shipping drop me a line and I'll PayPal you the difference
ASAP. I check my email periodically throughout the day so I will
catch it. Every time I get a package from you it's like Christmas,
haha.

Please tell Irene those wind chimes are very nice. I will definitely
keep that as a Christmas list idea later when I do my shopping. She
does real good work.

Thanks again and we will be in touch. Have a great week, Miles!

Miles,

I sent the money via Paypal just now. I appreciate you taking the time to give me your take on where the fangs came from and I'll be sure to get in touch with you when I finally make it to Fairbanks to see if you're still in business of art and collection!

My sincerest thanks,
~Tina

Miles, it was good to see you in the hardware store the other day. I have forwarded your web link to a couple friends of mine 'outside' who just love knives. I am sure they will at least enjoy looking if not purchasing. I'll never forget first meeting you years ago when you were doing some small metal work with inlays and more. I was so impressed then at what you were doing and your artistic abilities. Always inspiring to see your work. BUT, this website has just blown me away. I just cannot imagine the dedication you have to your lively hood. You are in a special class of creative artists. A collection of your products would surely be an valuable investment.

I really love the whale knives. I don't suppose one could flesh out a whale with one, but could be great for cutting up my personal stash of muktuk.

The knife pictured here on the top, do you still have it in your possession? If you do have it, tell me more. If it is not finished, estimate for a mammoth handle. It's very attractive.

Im interested in some mammoth ivory, both interior and bark.. I like rough bark with lots of character.. color is secondary.. Please show me what you got.. For the interior, its gota be dry and solid.. ready to use material.

I see you do trades.. I have a ram horn that came from alaska. That if your interested in. I will shoot pics and weigh it to go tward the purchase of the ivory..

I have not used a lot of walrus tusk. and see some on your site that are amazing.. if you have pics of what you have in stock please include with pricing and sizes etc..

Thanks for a great afternoon surfing through you web pages!

I´m a stone & bone carver from germany and I just received my share of mammoth ivory that you recently sent to my kiwi buddy Marcus Gaylor.
Thanx for that awesome material which is soon gonna be worked into custom pendants. Would you recommend to soak it in mineral oil for some time before starting to work with it?

Have you got whale bone (jawbone) or whale teeth (orca or spermwhale) available? If so - what´s the legal issues for those parts - I mean can they be legally shipped to germany?

Cheers,
Andy

Hello: I was on the internet and came across your website.
Love it! I am looking for an authenic jaguar tooth to make a
pendant with? Do you carry such an item?
When I was in Central America many years ago, I was given
a lovely pendant by a Mayan chief and it was lost in an
earthquake I was in, I barely got out my self and lost all my
personal belongings. That jaguar tooth meant alot to me
I have been searching a long time for one. Do you know
where I can obtain one or where I can get one? Thanks
for your help. Shirley

Miles,

I received the items and can't thank you enough for the pieces and quality. Thank you very much for including a wolves claw. I will have my buddy make a neckless for one of my sons. I'm most certain that my middle son will want it for a necklace.

Thank you again for personal service. I look forward to doing much more business with you in the future.

Good morning Miles,

You strike an awesome bargain. I am totally jumping on that. These will be great once I get my workroom set up, and excellent practice.
In the meantime, I always go to Raven's workroom at her house. Ha!
We just love your stuff. We'll have to send you photos of what we've made with some of your raw materials.

Anyway, I'm going to access PayPal and send you $126 as soon as I'm done with this email. I'll probably tuck in a little extra to even it to $130. Just throw in some extra goodies, your choice. I don't think I've ever not liked anything you sent me.

Payment on it's way. Thank you again and have a great weekend!

Erin

Miles, Love your book!

How goes it today? Any wild adventures over the weekend...maybe you don't even acknowledge weekends. That would be a great lifestyle to not have to live each week so regimented, something life on the east coast has lost. Everything is Starbucks coffee and powerpoint teleconferences. Not only are we watching a computer projected presentation we are watching the presentation on a flatscreen. Something else. Anyway thanks again for putting your stories in print and giving city slickers like me a chance to live wild through your literature.

I noticed on the internet Fairbanks was below freezing. Has winter set in yet?

Miles,

You're welcome and I'm glad I could help you out on your site. I also paid for the stuff via Paypal.

As for knife making, I am new to it and I am more of a snowmobile race guy, gearhead, guns, etc…but I have always like working with my hands and have wanted to make a knife or two. I recently purchased some blank blade material so I could make my sons some knives. My two oldest boys are in the military and I wanted to do something special for them. As I searched for unique items, I came upon your site and was fascinated by all you are doing. What a story you are and I will most likely purchase your book as well in the future.

Anyway, If you toss in anything, that is just fine with me. With a last name of Wulff, I am somewhat partial to wolf items. Haha…

Thanks for being personal and taking the time to respond to me. I look forward to getting the stuff from you. Thank you.

Hello Miles,

I will be pleased to cover for the cost of the teeth and postage fees. I will certainly keep you in mind for futures needs from my clients. Most of my clients are located in USA so if someone needs your products and services, I will refer them to you. A year ago a client wanted to replace one tusk on a huge Walrus. It was very difficult for me to find the material so I have done the repair on the damage tusk instead of changing them. Attached is the picture of the Walrus (approx. weight 60 pounds)

Again I thank you for your precious help! You are very kind.

Sincerely, Diane

Good evening Miles,

Boy did you come through again. I opened that box and it had everything I was looking for and then some. It's very nice to get my hands on some real Alaskan fur, some of it unaltered and chemically treated. These will be perfect for my more smaller crafts projects, and to catalog (I keep fur samples of various animals to help me identify hides and such better). They'll also make great additions to my bottle pendants, to help me raise money for my fundraisers.

Some of the bear fur was a real surprise! And the mammoth hair is fascinating, I don't think I've seen that up close before. The muskox is really neat--you can tell this animal is built for cold climate, I was holding it in my hand and it got real warm!

Next time I get in touch with you, I'll be looking for skulls. Now that I have my own workspace (I live in a house with multiple people, and one of them moved out, so I'm taking his workroom!) I'd like to display some skulls of some larger animals, especially critters that are unique and hard to find otherwise (though, preferably legal for my area).

Thanks again, Miles. Always great working with you. Hope this finds you well and we will be in touch again soon.
Erin

Miles.

Been reading your book. I purchased it on my summer vacation to Fairbanks this year.

Love the stuff, when are you going to come out with another book?

Do many people still try to make it in the woods like you did?

Thanks

Erick

Good Morning,

Payment has been made; thank you for your help and your time.

Hey Miles. Sorry if that's not what you wanted to be called. I read all about your work and your descriptions and your products. You probably don't want to hear it from a teenager, but I admire your work very much. The things you do are amazing and your work far surpasses all that I have so far seen. I recently purchased a "wolf Tooth" from ebay but now that I have the item it looks more like a raccoon tooth or something. I was hoping to obtain a wolf tooth since my last one that I had for six years was taken by my older sister and thrown into the ocean off of a ferry boat. It was really special to me since a good friend of mine gave it to me before she died. My sister didn't like my "Spiritual connection" to my wolf spirit (she thought it as more of an obsession) and finally did something about it.Yes, I am not very experienced in purchasing of raw items such as animal teeth or claws. Really I used the purchasing of the "wolf Tooth" as a last resort. But its alright since I didn't pay much at all for it. My parents don't want to spend more than ten dollars on anything because we lost a lot of money during these times. I hope you are faring well in Nenana (did I spell it right?). Anyways, someday I hope after college to be able to take a year off in the wild. Of course I won't be winging it, I'll prepare and plan carefully. Well, Miles. Some day I hope to meet you and I know this is taking money out of your pocket. That's why I don't really expect you to read it. But maybe it'll reach you some other way, as in you make a lot of money on the day you receive this. (I hope that happens!) I just wanted to say you are awesome and a real inspiration to me! Thank you for doing what you do and being who you want to be!

It's been almost a year since we last exchange emails. Don't know if you still remember me? I'm the one who sent you the wild pig tusk from Vietnam.

I'm looking for some antler material to make the knife handle. You can see a sample of the knives in the attached pix.

What I'm thinking of for the handle is the moose antler (see pix attached). The dimension should be 3"-3.5" diameter, 6" long. Comparing with your hand in the pix, I think 3.5" diameter is a possible size. I need that big size because the pommel of the knife. But when we grind down to make the rest of the handle, would this part be spongy and holow? I also attach a pix of how others did with their knives. You see the spongy area pop out which is really ugly. Need your kind advice.

For the 02 smaller knives, I think the tines would fit the job.

Let me know if it's okay. And what would be the price then?

All the best

Hung
My reply : Hello Hung
Yes I remember. If I recall you have some dogs like pit bulls. On your questions about antler… Yes for sure the big stem will work and is solid as you desire. However this part is heavy in weight and highly sought after so more expensive, like $35. I think it is possible a large thick tine might work. This is $15. It might be worth at least looking and trying. Yes the tines will have the unwanted hollow inside but not always. The hollow is mostly near the palm or base of tine. And if hollow there is maybe half the material will be solid - so in a cross section view a quarter of the diameter all around will be expected to be solid. Some times can be a foot long and 2.5 inches across. Even though it take some time for the shipment to arrive to see I suggest you buy one stem one large tine and one small tine and tell me what will work and you will then have the knowledge you want . Only you can decide. If any is unwanted I think there will be someone where you are who can use it for another project and you can pass it on to them. One stem $35 one large tine $15 one small tine $8 total $58 shipping hmmm unsure might be $20 total- so $78. I am set up with pay pal and this email is my account. Or let me know if you wish to do something else. Nice to hear from you again. Miles

Hello Miles,
I sent you 30§ via Paypal, for the most convenient combination of
1 item and shipping;
I've heard coffee powder is a good packing material, against moths.
Friday, September 10, 2010 Hi Miles, I shall inform myself at the customs about possible restrictions
Asking at customs is best. I think trying to do this with the government permission instead of figuring out how to trick them is better. I do think what we are trying to do is legal Maybe explain the situation tell them you have tried twice and the shipment has never arrived. They may have an idea for you. Maybe there is a clearance code they can give you or have it sent direct to an official for you to go pick up.

I sent you some thing to in the mail for your kindness giving me a deal on the knife. it's not much but some thing i made so maybe it means more.

Hi Miles,
Thank you so much for taking the time sorting through the available fangs. I deeply appreciate the effort you took as well as including a free small claw. I can't wait to see them- from all your testimonies from past clients I can only imagine that they'll be even more amazing in person! I was looking over your website again and was curious if you also have fangs from any exotic big cats (lions, tigers, leopards, ect)? I would be interesting in purchasing some if you had any available. Again, thank you so much!

Cheers,
Kimmi

Hi Miles,

The pendant has arrived yesterday. Elizabeth is very happy with it and now my other daughter is asking for one also. I told her that she need to wait till her 21st birthday also, which is next year, so that it will be more special for her. Anyway, Elizabeth commented that the pendant looked simple initially yet subtle. The longer she looks at it, the more details she found, becoming more and more gorgeous each time and she never get bored looking at it.

Thanks once again for everything, my family and I will be back for more, definitely.

Take care,

I hope you enjoy the photos of you and Irene taken in Tucson close to your anniversary on Valentine's Day!

Please take care,

LaVonne

Thanks,
Dave

I received the order yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. The bones are beautiful and the fur is wonderful. Thanks also for the free Marten fur (admittingly I had to google to find out what it was).
I plan on placing another order soon. I'm just so happy. When I finish I'll try to remember to send you a picture.

Sunny

Hello Miles,

I got the fish pendant and I love it as much as the owl. The opal eye was a lot more sparkly than I expected - such a fiery bit of color!

Thanks for everything.

Hey Miles,

The two knives you made for me have been delivered and the guy loves them.

Tuesday, December 08, 2009
good morning miles
thanks for getting back
after i wrote i realized how much time you spend doing this and how much info is actually on yr site really diggin it!

so i really appreciate your taking the time to get back i have lots of other materials being a collector of bones n such most of my life have a brother and nephew who live in montana and pick up some sheds

Hey Miles,

This looks fantastic, I am loving this. It's better than what I hoped for, actually. The $200 total sounds great, I'll pay you with paypal very soon and thank you for everything. I will do this as soon as possible for your convenience.

Once again, thank you for your hard work!

Take care,
Katie

~Erin

In any case, thank you for your business once again. Your materials help spice up my artwork and give me something amazing to have in my hands, and your website is very informative in dealing with/learning about these raw materials and helping me improve on my technique. I'd also like to work out some wholesale with you in the future...I'm very low maintenance where that goes and require little if any picture-taking, and can show you examples and photos of my work and the vending I do with my friends at area events sometime.

In any case, thanks again and hope all is well with you. We'll be in touch!

~Erin

Thanks,
MorningStar

I look forward to working with you; it is refreshing to be dealing with someone who understands & respects what I do & how important it is to me. I consider my pieces a way to honor the animal's spirit - all are created with love & dignity. I don't mean to sound like a nut job....this is important to me. And you get it - that is very important to me too. Looking forward to my package! :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR GUIDANCE!

Thanks so much for both the wolf claw and tooth jewelry everything looked great. My daughter was thrilled to receive these on her recent birthday and has worn them non-stop since. I hope to in the near future look at some other items for gifts etc.
Again many thanks.

David

Miles

Those Mammoth Ivory blanks made some real nice grips for my 45. Here are a couple of pictures for you. Feel free to use them on your website if you like. Thanks again for the quality material and great service.

Thanks again, Miles. Take care and talk to you soon!
